![]() | Golden Harp Resources discovers new gold zone peripheral to historical Cook Zone; preliminary results returned 5.21 g/t au VANCOUVER, March 13 Golden Harp Resources Inc. (TSXV:GHR) today announced results from exploration in and around the historical Cook Gold (CG) Zone and a newly discovered peripheral gold occurrence designated Cookie Jar(CJ) on its 100%-owned, 145 square kilometer Copper Hill Gold Property in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt of Northern Ontario. The Company conducted a mobile metal ion (MMI) soil geochemical case study program over the CG Zone and the projected strike extension of the zone. The purpose of this study was to ascertain the response over known mineralization, and further evaluate specific portions of the projected CG Zone strike associated with induced polarization (IP) anomalies. The MMI survey detected the CG Zone and a number of new MMI anomalies along strike. A particularly interesting anomaly returned gold levels 770 times background; this soil response was directly above the new CJ occurrence located approximately 600 metres southeast of the historical CG Zone. A preliminary geological evaluation was conducted in the immediate vicinity of the CJ occurrence. This evaluation consisted of limited hand stripping, taking structural measurements and collecting a few samples. The CJ occurrence is hosted in a felsic pegmatite dyke, which returned 5.21 g/t gold from a grab sample. The dyke is hosted proximal to a NE striking contact between a felsic intrusive and a package of carbonate altered mafic volcanics. A wall rock grab sample of carbonate altered mafic volcanics on the margins of the dyke also returned 0.54 g/t gold. No significant values were obtained from the felsic intrusive. The distinct change in strike orientation at the CJ occurrence relative to the main CG trend suggests a flexure or potential trap for gold mineralization proximal to the CJ occurrence. Further, approximately 50 meters due north of the CJ occurrence in an overburden covered area, a broader MMI anomaly is present (CJ North Target). This broad MMI anomaly is present over roughly 100 meters along Line 8E and is coincident with both an IP anomaly and a large magnetic low. Preliminary interpretation suggests that this target represents a similar potential gold bearing environment to that found at the CJ occurrence; however, this target appears substantially larger. Both the CJ occurrence and the CJ North Target will be priority drill targets during the course of the Company's diamond drill program expected to begin in late March, 2008. In conclusion, this preliminary program of MMI geochemical surveying and prospecting was particularly significant for a number of reasons: - The program demonstrated that MMI in combination with geophysical surveying is an effective tool for defining new gold targets; this type of program can now be implemented across the entire property where required for target generation. - The program outlined a number of primary drill targets (CJ and CJ North) as well as a number of new secondary targets all of which will be drill tested in the immediate future. - At the CJ occurrence there is a distinct change in strike orientation relative to the main CG Zone - This may represent a structural trap, a favourable feature, which often assists in concentrating gold deposition. This strike change may explain why previous operators did not intersect the CG Zone extension on large step outs to trace the zone; as previous drilling occurred parallel to the current CJ occurrence. - The program demonstrated the potential to define further higher grade mineralization similar to that found at the historical CG Zone (Historical intersections along strike from the historic CG Zone include: DDH-COOK 2 - 3.67 g/t Au over 18.5 m, including 10.04 g/t Au over 5.0 m & 5.54 g/t Au over 10.5 m). During the course of this work other prospecting, structural measurements and sampling work was conducted in another area of the property to examine a series of north/south structural features located in outcrop along the highway. This work was not related to the MMI work or any geophysical target referred to above and no significant values were returned. Golden Harp is a Canadian mineral exploration company with an enviable property position, covering 145 km(2) over six townships in the prolific Abitibi Greenstone Belt in Northern Ontario. The 100%-owned Copper Hill project hosts four known gold zones, a copper zone, and large portions of the property have yet to be evaluated. The Company's strategy is to provide its shareholders with value growth opportunities through the exploration and discovery of new mineral deposits and by building strategic partnerships to maximize the exploration activity and discovery potential of its substantial land holdings.
