Yes it does that sometimes. It either means there is not a reliable bid, due to low volume, usually meaning people are wanting to buy it at .00009 or lower, because Scott does not like 4 0's. It will also do it with stocks that have normal volume and then get pumped and have like half a bil volume or more the next day, they freeze the stocks for online trade. I have run into both of those problems numerous times. I think my branch is tired of me placing stock orders over the phone, but until they fix it then too bad. An easy way to check is go to the main page and act like you are buying a stock, put in limit and what not then click Review, it will then either tell you that you can not place it online or it will go to the next screen where you can cancel the order or place it.
Any more questions, we are in the chat room during market hours and usually before market hours also. In the Sub Penny room, I will start creating one with the new chat system

Greeting all:
I have questions for the group specifically for anyone with scottrade brokerage account. Has anyone encountered this issue when placing an online order to sell a penny stock in which the order can not be place because a message come up stating "unable to enter the order because bid or ask is not found for the symbol. please contact local branch office to place order"? If so how did you resolve it besides contacting the local branch office?
Yesterday, my order to buy 1.2M share of DIAAE @ .0001 was finally accepted having to wait since last thursday. Anyway, I went to place an online order to sell DIAAE stock at .0002 and I get a red pop up message above. Btw, thank you all for this informative thread. Good luck and great success to all.
Thanks...Steve

Hi Steve,
I have a Scottrade account and deal with these issues though no bid/ask is a new one on me. I do get the message to call my broker when I try to execute a buy order sometimes.
I just call them up and place the order. The price is still $7.00 (plus for shares valued $1 and under they add 1/2 of 1% of the full value of the trade. $5 per $1000.
Their list of questionable stocks is a little arbitrary imo.
I had to call them to buy NTRO but they let JNIP go through no problem.
NTRO is doing great things and everyone thinks of JNIP as a pump n dump, go figure.
When you go to sell a stock you own it is straight-forward online.
Scottrade is a minor pain in some ways but the prices make it worthwhile to me. They are good enough unless you want to short a penny stock, they won't allow you to short anything less than $5 initial price.
I had an account with Interactive Brokers and discovered huge hidden fees.
ThinkorSwim has big upcharges on large orders. $50 for orders over 1M shares.
It adds up quick. I don't like having to make a few ticks just to break even.
Scottrade does the trick for me. One tick and I'm in the black.

price after 40 day trial

What does this do?
Basically it does what many of us are doing manually: go to some stock screener (nasdaq in this case), get a list of stocks trading between 0.0001 and 0.0002 with a certain minimum volume, and look at the graph of what is going on for each stock in the past 5 days (google 5-day graphs in this case).
In case either the nasdaq or google finance sites change the way their pages work, the tool will stop working and will give you some error.
Release History:
v0.11 - Initial Release
v0.12 - Fixed a few issues with the way stocks were retrieved, and copying results to the clipboard for easy pasting in other applications.
v0.20 - Updated to work with latest web site changes. New interface.
v0.30 - Patched for latest site changes. Added 5-day chart lookup. Added update alert functionality (checking for latest version). Added daily volume of each stock to results. Added colored stock suggestion based on volume and price fluctuations (do NOT rely on this, this feature is NOT tested nor proven effective).
Hope this helps

I am not sure what 40 day trial you are talking about? This program is currently free.

Frank, I believe that you need to have the Microsoft's .NET framework installed on your computer to run this and some other programs too. Please try to install this before running the tool:
Download details: .NET Framework 3.5 Service pack 1
