WHICH BROKER IS BEST?

I've been paper trading for way to long! (kidding)
I'm getting rid of one of my Trading accounts and since I'm suppose to be on vacation I figured this would be the best time to switch and looking at either Ameritrade or Choice Trade and just figured I'd ask you which is best. I just know I need better and faster executions! Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I use Ameritrade, I like it and I've never had any problems. The only drawback to Ameritrade is the $10.99 fee which some people feel is a bit high for pennies ($22 every time you buy and sell a stock). I just opened an account with ChoiceTrade since the fees are half what Ameritrade charges but found it much less user friendly, so I haven't used it yet.

I've also heard good things about LowTrades but haven't used them.

Thanks

Thanks for filling me in. I've tried Low Trades and they didn't measure up to what I like. Trading Direct just didn't measure up for what I'm looking for also.
They are alright for long term swings but just don't seem to execute like Scottrade, but Scottrade is a little high for pennies also. I do like my Scottrade account, but use to come close to $15 to $20 every time I bought or sold. It all adds up.!
I think I'm going to try Ameritrade every one I talk to seems satisfied with them!
Thanks again and HAPPY TRADING

choicetrade

I've had good results with Choicetrade. Since I signed up in March or so, they've added the ability to set sell limit orders for pennies and sub-pennies.

Scottrade

Got to say, I love Scottrade. It has everything I need. Set buy and sell, charts, Quotes. $7.00 a trade. For stocks under a dollar there's a half percent commission on the total.

Did I mention I love it.

It's that .5% commission on the pennies at Scottrade that kept me away ... $5 flat at Choicetrade.

Question

Hi, first post on this forum.. thought this would be a good time to post.

i have a similar dilemma... I'm trying to decide right now between Scottrade and Choicetrade. I've also been looking into Lowtrades, but haven't heard the best things about them. I really don't wanna spend the extra .5% for penny stocks under $1, but I like the interface for Scottrade much better. I also like the fact that there are local branches in case I need them and that they have a snazzy program called Scottrader that seems useful.

I am current using Firstrade but would like to switch because of the high cost of trading penny stocks (half a cent for every share under $2).

Thanks!

use schwab here, seems to fill well. i can buy at bid, and usually don't have a problem with tons of partials.

of the two, choicetrade would be the better choice particularly where it comes to pennies and trading costs !

the "local branches" situation simply means higher costs and is of no practical value (that i can think of anyway) in the "real world" as a phone call is a phone call and it really doesnt matter where the phone is located as long as someone can help you when you need it !

and if you like scottrader, take a look at the free version of quotetracker by medved (which btw, is the basis for mikes method available on this site). quotetracker will do everything that scott does, plus turn on a dime and give change !

i personally use ameritrade apex for the "one stop tools shopping" that they offer, but im also giving away a lot of money since i usually do a bunch of hunnert trades a month, so im busy looking also and considering interactive brokers myself ! (of the broker supplied realtime feeds, theyre considered one of the best for quotetracker !)

hope that helps
