National Automation Services, Inc. (NASV.PK) Is In Control
In much of the desert southwest, the name National Automation Services Inc. is rapidly becoming synonymous with control systems integration, though the company has expanded into a number of different areas. The diversity of their projects gives an idea of their ability to solve almost any kind of processing and systems control challenge, but it also indicates the level of trust major clients routinely place in that ability.
• Southwest Airlines – NAS is responsible for maintaining baggage handling for Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, involving extensive use of PLC Controllers, and the integration of numerous monitoring and security systems. NAS has now been asked by Southwest to support all of their operations throughout the western U.S., including California, Arizona, Utah, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, and Texas.

National Automation Services, Inc. (NASV.PK) is “One to Watch”
National Automation Services, Inc. is a public holding company focused on designing, engineering, installing and maintaining automated control systems for such business applications as waste water treatment, water treatment, airport security, bottling plants, power plants, metals, mining, breweries, food processing, tire making, textiles, plastics and nearly all production activities.
Dominant players in the $500 Billion national and international automation controls market include Siemens, Honeywell, Fisher Controls, Johnson Controls and others. In addition to the multi-nationals, it has been estimated that there could be as many as 900 local and regional firms providing automation control services. In general, these companies have an edge on the larger behemoths because they can better respond to the needs of local business and municipalities.
Unfortunately, for these smaller companies, they compete in a limited market space, have stunted growth prospects and have no way of monetizing their asset value. NAS aims to capitalize on this condition by acquiring and integrating the strongest local and regional players into a new organization that would allow for the synergies and efficiencies of a national company while keeping the competitive advantages of decentralized management and service.

National Automation Services (NASV.PK) Leads with Its People
National Automation Services Inc., like all companies, is valued and differentiated based upon three things: it’s people, it’s management structure, and its proprietary products/services. Of these three, the most important factor is the people, since they can drive the other two. In the case of National Automation, a small but respected control systems integration company, a relative handful of key players has been the core of their strong reputation in the controls industry.
• Carlos Carrillo, PE – System Engineer / Project Manager – 25 years of engineering experience in the field of automation technology, including engineering and project management. He has an in-depth knowledge of PLCs (programmable logic controllers), SCADAs (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition systems, essentially computerized systems for process monitoring/control), and RTUs (remote terminal units).

National Automation Services Inc. (NASV.PK) – Water Down The Drain
It can be argued that the business of wastewater treatment, today largely invisible to the public, could become one of the most critical industries of the 21st century. This is because water itself could take the place of fossil fuels, perhaps even food, as the commodity most sought and fought over. And that in turn means that wastewater could be seen more as a resource than ever before, with wastewater treatment inevitably growing in importance.
The subject of water shortage is increasingly seen as an immediate global issue. The World Economic Forum recently reported that, in less than 20 years, water scarcity could result in the loss of world grain production equivalent to that of India and the United States combined, just as population and food demand is skyrocketing. Moreover, one sixth of the world’s population does not have access to clean drinking water, and more than 2 million people are estimated to die each year from diseases borne of contaminated water.
The changing climate isn’t helping. Massive glaciers in the Himalayas that are warming and retreating are the source of water for over a billion people, and are withdrawing so quickly that they could essentially be gone by 2100. And, even though there’s a lot of water in the world’s oceans, don’t look for things like desalinization technology to solve the problem any time soon. The energy required, along with other issues, has posed more questions than answers.
