Hope all who played SOEN.OB took my advice and got out yesterday or today. After hitting .36 again, it could not break and went down to close at .32. Could be just a pullback as it is making higher lows. I am officially taking it off radar. It was a nice play folks.

SPPI (Spectrum Pharmaceuticals) has 2 drugs in the pipeline waiting for FDA approval. The first is Zevalin for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma which has a date of 7/2/09. The other is Fusilev for colorectal cancer which has a date of 10/8/09. SPPI has more than tripled in the past 3 months on speculation of approval and has been staying above the 10 day MA. It looks like it is ready to continue going. If the first drug is approved, this thing could see $10 easily, possibly even $15 or $20. If the second drug is also approved, this thing could add another $5 to $10 on top.

The good thing about SPPI is that you can also play options on it if you want to hedge.

FDA plays are highly speculative and risky, but the reward can be huge.

SPPI on 6/15/09 had a gain of .32 (almost 5%) to close at 6.15. It ran as high as 6.35 before settling back to close at 6.15. From the initial call at 5.35 close on 6/11 to closing today is a total gain of almost 15%

SPPI down 7.48% to close at 5.69 on news of the company raising $10m from institutional investors at $5.83/share. Despite the pullback, I am still bullish on the stock. We may see a continued pullback at first, however as we approach the 7/2 deadline for the first drug, I believe the PPS will rebound back up.
