B: Farmers and Merchants Bank of Long Beach Continues Share Repurchases


LONG BEACH, Calif., Jun 27, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Farmers and Merchants Bank
of Long Beach (OTCBB:FMBL) announced today that it is continuing with the sixth
phase of its previous announced share repurchase program of up to $50 million of
the Bank's common stock. The share repurchase program was originally announced
by the Bank in September 2000.

The first phase of the share repurchase program consisted of a tender offer by
the Bank which closed October 31, 2000. As of May 31, 2005 the Bank repurchased
11,665 shares from the date of inception.

In the sixth phase of the repurchase program, the Bank may purchase, from time
to time and as market conditions and corporate strategies warrant, up to
approximately $10,000,000 worth of shares in the open market, in private
transactions or otherwise. Any possible future purchases by the Bank of its
shares will depend on several factors, including, without limitation, the market
price for the Bank's common stock, the Bank's business and financial position,
general economic and market conditions, and other factors.
