![]() | GeneThera Enters Into Agreement With IZSLER Jun 18, 2007 -- GeneThera, Inc. (OTC BB:GTHA.OB - News) announced today it has entered into a Collaboration Agreement with Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Lombardia e dell'Emilia Romagna (IZSLER). IZSLER is a governmental institute with operations located in the city of Brescia, Italy. In June 2006, GeneThera announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with IZSLER.This new Collaboration Agreement between GeneThera and IZSLER allows GeneThera to continue its Italian operations and build a lab in IZSLER's facilities. The goals of the Agreement include (i) establish validation protocols to compare GeneThera's live animal blood test technology for the detection of Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy (TSE) to current available methodologies for "post mortem detection" of TSE, (ii) to establish a research protocol for a time course correlation study between the TSE-specific gene marker expression levels in blood and the presence of TSE in live experimentally infected animals, and (iii) to establish a Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) screening program using GeneThera's live animal blood test system for large scale cattle testing in feedlots and slaughter houses. GeneThera's CEO, Dr. Tony Milici, stated, "Having access to live animals that have been experimentally infected with Mad Cow Disease and other transmissible diseases will allow our scientists to quickly validate our existing test and allow for a much quicker move to commercialization of the product. Furthermore, we are even more anxious to get our exclusive access to these experimentally infected cattle considering that, to our knowledge, IZSLER is the only research institute in the world capable of providing cattle infected with such an atypical strain of BSE." Once the test has been validated, GeneThera will begin marketing the test to ranchers and slaughterhouses in United States and other countries. Additionally, GeneThera will commence development of a vaccine for Mad Cow. ABOUT GENETHERA, INC. GeneThera, Inc. is a biotechnology company that develops molecular testing and DNA vaccines for animal diseases that may cause diseases in humans. The core of its operation is the ongoing development of molecular diagnostic assays using Real Time Fluorogenic Polymerase Chain Reaction (F-PCR) technologies to detect the presence of infectious disease from the blood of animals, particularly, live animals. |
