momentum depends on which version you have -- free or registered

the free version requires changing the momentum values during the day, while the registered version does not. If you dont have the registered version, its a paltry 6 bucks a month i believe, and more than worth it for what you then get, like 10 day charts, no need to move the momentum values and lots of other stuff ive long forgotten !

==============================================

hey

sorry, but ameritrade simply does not provide them, no matter what version you have !

four years ago they said they were working on it ---- they were also working on having level two for all otcbb and pinks, and that aint happened either !

when i wrote the instructions, cybertrader (i believe) supplied the indexes and 10 quotes for free, but believe they are done with that largess at this point !

so if you stick with ameritrade, youre sunk with the tick and the trin -- sorry !

enjoy and trade well

Thanks for the reply mp but...

I supose my question is if I sign up for paid version do I resolve my problem of getting blank momentum indicators and also would I be able to get tick and trin. If not what do I need to do to get them. I am also with ETrade. Thanks.....Shawn.

Shawn, paid or not paid version, doesn't matter, really. (for Tick and Trin - dunno about blank momentum indicator)

You have Ameritrade Quote and Indices provider. And Ameritrade don't have Tick and Trin. So, you will not get them into QT!

I also have IB (Interactive Brokers) provider since I'm trading Canadian stock with them. IB has Tick and Trin....

You see, all depend on your data provider.
You said you also have ETrade. Then try it. I don't have ETrade so i can't aswer this question. But you can. Choose ETrade for Indices provider, enter username and password, then start editing Indices. If you see Thick and Tring on the list, then Etarde provides them, otherwise not.

ETrade is one of the best "all around" brokers there is, with the most complete level 2 for the baby stocks, fast executions (they are their OWN mm) and supplies most, if not all the indicators on QT. It would be an excellent choice, imo !

Tried it with ETrade and it worked for Tick and Trin. Dont know about the momentum indicator yet, still working on it. Thank you both.....Shawn.

ah, i remember something

momentum indicator needs one day of prior information for it to work correctly -- may also try backfilling and make sure your momentum indicator is set for the right time period on the charts per the instructions if youre using the free version -- the registered version just uses the 25/40 without having to change it !

MP -- IMPT CHANGES IN LRC

DUE TO SOME INTERNAL CHANGES, PLEASE USE BOTH LINEAR REGRESSION CHANNELS ON YOUR CHARTS.

Use "Regression Channel" at normal settings of (1, 4, 2) AND "Single Regression Channel" at settings of (12,2) which differs from the original version.

I use a purple (very readable) for the regression channel and white for the single regression channel, and now --- the "regression channel" will show you the MAIN STOCK TREND (DIRECTION) AND THE "single regression channel" will show you the TREND WITHIN THE MAIN TREND !

Other words, the MAIN trend (REGRESSION channel) might be up, but at the moment the SECONDARY trend(SINGLE regression channel) might be down (inside the main trend, such as a selloff on a rising pps) This allows you to read "SHAKES" to the decimal of where they start and where they will prob end (which will be when the pps inside the "single" hits the MAIN regression channel line -- one a one minute chart it will show you BREAKOUTS or BREAKDOWNS when the single continues thru the regular main trend -- all highly visual !)

applied to a one day intraday chart of 30 minutes, this will show you EXACTLY what the stock or currency or whatever is doing every second ! (and of course, works on ANY timeframe)

an interesting experiment for the 3 MONTH charts is to set the "single" at the number of trading days in a 3 month period (more for longer time frames and less for shorter ones) --- i use 62 days with a width of 2.2 for mine. This will then give you an overall trend for that time period, with the "regular" regression channel showing you the up and down trends within that time period !

enjoy
