Newbie TA tools? Free up to what pay for?

TA is of course not possible without intra day and period data in the resolution that's needed. IE Yahoo TA charts I'm wondering are worth the time to click away??

What's a beginner to do? I'm digesting MP's excellent, buy, how to hold and exit strategy docs. But they use charts that I've never see on the TA sites.

Can someone please offer "usable" free sites and what are good value TA services?

tnx, curt

curt, QuoteTracker is a free download. Are you using that? I know some of our better traders use nothing more then Level 2 and QuoteTracker.

be careful about pcquote it's not showing the lastest candles, i believe it's up to 5 now. it's severely skewing data. just a heads up. i emailed them about this and they never got back to me . so i don't know what's up with that.

one of their glitches yesterday --- they appear to be having some server problems, but it seems a lot of sites had server problems yesterday, including this one !

intra day charts and QT data source?

Thanks MP for your charting websites. All only offer 3 month time frames and daily pricing. This still means for away from home checking of TA, yahoo finance, is still the only game in town for intra day data via web.

How about tips on data source for intra day data for QT? Unless I've not figured out the installation and operational requirements.

Thanks alot, curt

HUH ?????

whereas there may be some site in the ones i put out that will only go down to 3 months, that has not been my general history with them, but add to the list http://www.askresearch.com

I KNOW that one will do everything as does pcquote, the charts i use for research, and its prettier !

FREE charts are all delayed, just as yahoo. some of the sites i gave you are EOD information, some not, but i never use research charts for intraday as i use quotetracker, which has it all in spades !

all the data sources for quotetracker are available by clicking on the "menu" button and going to the appropriate areas, be it level 2, backfill or whatever --- all you have to do is enter your user name and password for whever is your information provider (usually your broker) and quotetracker does the rest !

OT: broker for penny play? QT friendly?

Hi MB,

Thanks again for the ask... TA / charting sight. Excellent.

Yesterday I was going to swing trade my MOBL position after a good one day run of 30%. I inched my way into this position so the leakage due to rediculous commissions was over time. Selling all in one trade would have been $1200 in commissions!!

Fidelity, gold level, for <$1 PPS commission is $.005 per share over 1000.

I noticed you trade lots of pennies. I need a broker that also has a good website for trading away from the home equipment and tools. I have a day job ;-(.

Tnx again, curt

WHEW !!!!!!!

personally i use ameritrade apex for ALL the tools it provides, but there are probably better choices. interactive brokers, choice trade, izone which is ameritrades new "no frills"$5 a trade" offshoot and some others are ALL superior!

enjoy

Commissions!!!

I am new and using Ameritrade. I really like their site with all the tools but the commissions are making it hard for me trade. How do you trade the pennies and use this site and cover the commissions? What am I missing?!
Thanks.
