There's an active mining environment in Chilke as reported

Chilean copper miner Antofagasta Minerals signed an agreement with Japanese corporation Marubeni whereby the latter will gain control of 30% of the Esperanza project and El Tesoro mine.
Marubeni agreed to pay Antofagasta Minerals US$1.31bn for the stake and will help cover the Esperanza project's capex of US$1.90bn.
And Chilean iron ore producer Minera Santa Fe reportedly plans to invest US$2.5bn in projects over the next three years along with Indian company JSW, a subsidiary of the Jindal Steel Group. In January the two companies had signed a JV whereby they would spend US$500mn on projects.
Also this week, Chile's region I environmental regulator Corema has approved an EIA submitted by copper miner Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi to build a US$117mn co-generation unit 185km southeast of Iquique.
