CALGARY, March 14 Blackpool Exploration Ltd. ("Blackpool"), an oil and gas company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange ("TSXV"), and Westbow Energy Inc. ("Westbow"), also an oil and gas company listed on the TSXV, are pleased to announce that at special meetings of their respective shareholders held on March 12, 2008, the shareholders approved the amalgamation of Westbow and Blackpool as disclosed in the Joint Management Proxy and Information Circular of Blackpool and Westbow dated February 6, 2008 (the "Information Circular"), a copy of which has been filed on SEDAR under each company's profile. Furthermore, the shareholders of both Blackpool and Westbow approved the proposed stock option plan for the amalgamated corporation as disclosed in the Information Circular.

Subject to final approval from the TSXV, it is anticipated that the Articles of Amalgamation will be filed with Alberta Corporate Registry effective March 31, 2008. The amalgamated corporation will be known as Western Canada Energy Ltd. and its shares are expected to commence trading with the symbol "WCE" shortly thereafter on the TSXV.
